St. Patrick's Day Mantel

Lucky I'm in love with my best friend, compliments of Landee See, Landee Do
Subway art from Funky Polkadot Giraffe.  I made a few lines orange.
I was inspired by this display at Landee See, Landee Do. I was already to grab wood scraps from the garage and start painting when I remembered that I quilt... So I grabbed my fabric and made myself a rainbow! I used a piece of foam core board, pinned the rainbow to it and then pushed it into the back of the frame. That frame was just sitting up in the attic waiting for a new coat of white paint. I am going to hand embroider over the arching stitches when I take it down since the lines are hard to see. I bought the white Hydrangeas flowers at JoAnns for my 'clouds'.  I looked everywhere for a pot I could fill with chocolate coins and I want a cute Leprechaun that will sit on the mantel but I had  no luck finding either. I will continue the search for next year's mantel! Oh, and I made a pretty garland with two different shades of green, white, and green and white polkadots.

St. Patrick's Day Goodie Bags

Happy St. Patrick's Day - a little early!  My grandparent's came over to America from the Emerald Isle back in the late 1920's.  My grandfather had some awesome greetings.  He would often say "What bothers on ya?" and "Top of the morning to ya!". It makes me smile just thinking about it.  I wonder if I could pull off saying those to people I greet today. :)

In honor of Saint Patrick I made these little goodie bags for my co-workers.  You can download the pdf here.  Chocolate coins and Mike & Ikes!

My New Button!

Cute right?!  Back in January I joined the biannual Blogathon. You can read about it here.  Well, I won a prize! A won a pre-made item from Kreated by Kelsey.  You can find her blog designs  here on her Etsy site or here on her blog!

I had actually won a blog make over last year and was happy with the look of it but hated my button. Kelsey was great about agreeing for make me a new button as my prize.  I LOVE it! If you are in the market for a new design for your blog please check Kelsey's work out.  I have never had such good and quick service before.

A Scrappy Trip Around the World

My quilt group the Wild Threads decided to make a quilt and donate it to the church where we have our sew-in's. They are having a fundraiser pony show in July so we thought a Scrappy Trip Around the World quilt would be a great group project and a way of saying thanks for allowing us the use of their great space.  Here is a link to a flickr group with lots of Trip Around the World blocks.  We each brought eight 2 1/2" by WOF (that means Width of Fabric!) strips to our last meeting, threw them all in a big pile on the floor and then everyone just chose enough for 2 blocks.  Lisa brought the red fabric for all of us so that each block would have red running through it.   These blocks were super easy to make.  Here is a tutorial on how to make them.

My friends are all going on retreat this coming weekend and are going to put them all together. I can't wait to see how it looks!

In other news I am sick again - I guess it comes with working with little children. Have you been hearing any of the hulabaloo about how keeping an onion in your room sucks up the germs? Yeah, my bedroom smells like onions but I am still sick...
Wishing you good health, love, and laughter!

Rowing Along - Row 2

I finished this row a while back and apparently forgot to blog about it. I am participating in a row-a-long with my quilting group the Wild Threads. The blocks are 8 1/2" squares. Each row has 6 blocks.
They are all the same block but I switched the solid colors around on each one and I turned some on their sides when I sewed them together so it wouldn't be so matchy-matchy!
Here is both row 1 and row 2 together.

I am a follower of Little Birdie Secrets.

She had a giveaway recently for Flirt earrings on Etsy and I won!
How fun is that!

Here is what I chose:
 The Melody in Yellow
 The Bobby in Turquoise
The Mandy in Coral
(I know these are yellow - couldn't find the Coral on her site)
Her prices are very reasonable - I was going to order the yellow ones for a certain person I know in Pittsburgh.  I am glad I waited!!

Blessings!
